Stand In The Middle | Matthew 5:14-16 & Romans 15:7
*This is my explanation of how some christians can be seen and how I see them. Not all are like this and I am not trying to tell anyone how bad they are or that they're doing a terrible job. I just want to give a message to be thought through by everyone who reads this.*
A lot of times I want to stand out. I like being different, which is okay. But then I get carried away trying to make myself weird or unalike everyone else. I think a lot of people are the same way.
But there are times when I want, too badly, look normal to others and I really don't want to stand out. The problem is, I don't always know how to fit in.
See, there are two sides. Sometimes I go overboard trying to be extremely different from everyone else, and other times I go overboard wanting to blend in.
Here's an example of the same thing. When I'm with my friends who are talking, sometimes I am interested in what they're saying. I want to comment and talk with them. But when I start to say something I stop. I think, my friends will think that's weird, or, they'll think I'm boring. I've thought that maybe what I'm about to say isn't acceptable right now, which I have to say can be good. And sometimes right before I'm about to speak I get embarrassed and think, everyone will think this is really dumb. So then I don't say anything. I keep quiet.
But there have been times when I have probably annoyed my friends. I've interrupted them and their conversation to say what was on my mind. I answer even when I wasn't asked the question. Sometimes I comment something that has nothing to do with the conversation. And this is all because I'm trying to do the opposite of what I explained about keeping quiet.
It's like being on a seesaw. You don't want to fall on one side so you run all the way to the other. But the problem is that the other side is just as bad. So you either stay on one side or run back and forth, back and forth, getting tired out when all you have to do is stand, balanced, in the middle. No running. No falling. Just stand in the middle.
Now to me, christians do this. We fall on the side where we run away from talking about Jesus and try to, in a way, hide that we are christians, or fall on the other side. We scream and holler in people's faces. We chase them and are way too pushy.
I think it would be better to just stand in the middle. You don't have to scream at people or be annoying. That might just push them away. But you don't have to hide that you are a christian either. Stand in the middle.

Bible verses
Matthew 5:14-16
14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
Romans 15:7
Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.
