Don't compare & Matthew 7:24

     Hey guys! So I was thinking about the concept of not comparing yourself to others. I've always heard that. It's nothing new. But I never understood it fully. And I probably don't even still. 

     Anyway, to get to the point, I was thinking about how because someone else was at a lower level in a specific thing, it was okay for me to stop where I was as long as I remained on top. 

     Okay, so pretend said person was younger than me. I'd suddenly find it not okay to be on the level I am. I would want to be better than that.

     This is when I understood that this race is only for me! I am to do the best I can and get better, and not hide behind someone else being worse. 

     Matthew 7:24

Therefore, everyone who hears my words and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on a rock.

     I should not compare myself and my doings to others and their doings. But I should focus on what Jesus wants me to do and doing it well.

     

     I'm not sure how much sense that made. I hope it was somewhat understandable.
